Qatar is hosting the Middle East’s first metaverse FIFA gaming event, which will let spectators from all over the world watch the world’s best FIFA gamers battle for the EA Sports FIFA 22 Champions Cup.
The competition will take place at the Aspire Ladies Sports Hall in Doha, with 16 participants competing for various prizes. Twelve of the 16 players are top EA Sports FIFA 22 players, while four are from the Middle East and North Africa. The four MENA players who qualified for the online qualifiers will have the opportunity to compete against professionals.
This competition was conducted by the esports platform Ooredoo Nation-Gamers’ Land. The winner will receive $25,000, while the first runner-up will receive $15,000 in prize money. The second runner-up and fourth-best players, on the other hand, will each receive $5,000.
Ooredoo’s Chief Commercial Officer, Nasser bin Hamad bin Nasser Al Thani, expresses its excitement to get into web3. This decision, he claims, is in line with Ooredoo’s long-term strategy of investing in innovation.
Throughout the event, fans will have many opportunities to connect with one another and the participants, thanks to the metaverse concept.
In addition, Ooredoo Nation – Gamers’ Land will provide viewers with free non-fungible tokens (NFTs), which can be redeemed for items, and opportunities to meet gamers and influencers. They can also use the NFTs as a form of investment.
