
The Supreme Court of China Calls for Widespread Deployment of Blockchain in the Legal System
May 26, 2022The Supreme People’s Court of the People’s Republic of China issued the “Opinions of the Supreme People’s Court on Strengthening Blockchain Application in the Judicial Field” on May 25, 2022.

The document indicates that the people’s courts’ concrete actions in fully implementing the Xi Jinping Thought on the Rule of Law and General Secretary Xi Jinping’s valuable instructions on promoting the innovative development of the blockchain.
In addition, the Supreme People’s Court of China has asked the Chinese legal system to use blockchain technology to connect courts across the country by 2025.
According to the report released, the Supreme Court stated that blockchain can be used to verify and share judicial data, legal documents, and reports.
Moreover, the document says that there are approximately 2.2 billion judicial certificates on the blockchain.
The Supreme Court adds that blockchain will improve efficiency in court operations such as case filing, information query and verification, and communication among judicial systems.
The Supreme Court also urged that courts, law enforcement, and regulators work together across the chain.
As per the document, the court should also work with blockchain platforms to promote intellectual property protection, business environment optimization, corporate bankruptcy and reorganization, and the social credit system.
