The former NBA basketball player from the United States and former president of basketball operations for the Los Angeles Lakers joined the NFT craze.

With the introduction of “The anthology: Magic Johnson” NFT collection on NBA Top Shot, the renowned basketball star is the most recent athlete to enter the digital art market.

Magic Johnson debuted a new non-fungible token (NFT) collection this week. The NFT collection, which will be released on June 7, will feature rare and memorable moments from Johnson’s career.

There will be 1,600 anthology collections, each costing $399. Each pack will have one of four Magic Johnson memories from the Los Angeles Lakers’ NBA Championship seasons. In addition, each collection will contain one guaranteed Magic Johnson Moment NFT of a Rare or Legendary rarity.

Johnson said in a tweet on Monday,

“I’m thrilled to join with @nbatopshot to release my first NFTs and provide fans with some of my favorite career moments.”

Note that Top Shot, which is an NBA NFT marketplace built on the Flow (FLOW) blockchain, was unveiled by the NBA and Dapper Labs in 2020.

According to the firm, 1,200 packs will be airdropped to players with a Top Shot score of at least 150,000, with the remaining 400 packs available to all customers, regardless of their Top Shot score.

Johnson is a five-time NBA champion, three-time NBA Finals MVP, three-time NBA MVP, 12-time NBA All-Star, and member of the NBA 75th Anniversary Team.
