Gambling operator Codere has extended its partnership with Real Madrid for five more football seasons, making it the exclusive sports betting regional partner of the club’s male and female teams in Latin America.
Codere first partnered with Real Madrid back in 2016, and the extended agreement underlines the operator’s commitment to Latin America. Specifically, the new agreement extends the sponsorship deal to cover over twenty countries in the region.
In addition to Codere Online’s core markets of Argentina (City of Buenos Aires), Colombia, Mexico, and Panama, the deal also accounts for potential future expansion to Argentina (beyond City of Buenos Aires), Brazil, Chile, Peru, Puerto Rico, and Uruguay, if and when they become regulated.
Commenting on the news, Codere CEO, Vicente Di Loreto, said: “We are thrilled with this renewed alliance with Real Madrid, with whom we share the same values and ambition to be the best at what we do, and look forward to benefiting from the renowned Real Madrid brand.”
Moshe Edree, Codere Online Managing Director, added: “The renewal of this strategic agreement with Real Madrid will play a key role in the deployment of our ambitious expansion project across Latin America.
“It will not only allow us to strengthen our online sports betting presence in the markets where we operate today, but also allow us to use the Real Madrid brand in other high-growth Latin American markets such as Brazil, Chile or Peru, when and if they become regulated.”
Codere has been active in Latin America since the early 1980s, initially in Colombia, before expanding to other countries in the region. Today, it is the leading gaming hall operator in the Province of Buenos Aires (Argentina), Mexico, and Uruguay, and a leading casino operator in Panama and Colombia. The operator also offers sports and horse race betting in Mexico, Panama, Colombia and Uruguay. Codere Online also offers online casino and sports betting in Mexico, Colombia, Panama, and soon, in the City of Buenos Aires (Argentina).
Despite its growing online presence, Codere was one of the gambling companies hit hard by the COVID-19 pandemic, with its extensive retail operations especially exposed to the lockdowns.
